# Item Labels & Barcodes

Every item in the store needs a **scannable barcode (strongly recommended) or a clear vendor ID** (your vendor name and ID).

**Why it matters:** at checkout we sell every item a customer brings up. If an item can't be matched to a vendor, we can't trace it later, and **the proceeds are kept by the store**. Staff don't research unmarked items after the sale.

Also keep prices accurate. Under the Colorado Consumer Protection Act, you're responsible for your pricing.

**Turnkey Dropshipping vendors:** we barcode your items for you, so this rule doesn't apply to items we tagged.
